Last weekend Peter and I travelled by train to The Chateau, sited within the Tongariro National Park. The weather was glorious, our room was great as was the food and the scenery.
Mt Nguruhoe looking splendid.
We went for a 3 hour walk to the Silica Rapids, which took us up the mountain a fair way, with spectacular views of all 3 mountains plus a bit of beech forest following the stream with its silica deposits. Most fascinating.
Red tussock and mountains
The beautiful stream with its creamy white silica deposits
There are always bridges!

Then there was the real reason we were here - to finish lining and sound proofing the games room. Well done everyone for a great job done!
